The metal fascia board is the long, straight board that runs along the lower edge of the roof. It is fixed directly to the lower ends of the roof trusses and usually supports the lower edge of the bottom row of tiles. Additionally, the fascia board carries all the guttering.

The primary function of fascia boards is to protect the roof’s edge from moisture infiltration. Roof edges are among the most vulnerable parts of a sloped roofing system because rainwater can flow under the shingles through capillary action. By preventing moisture from seeping in, fascia boards help maintain the integrity and longevity of the roofing system.
